What to expect

Free Consultation

When you contact Stem to Stern Sales for a free consultation, we'll first consult with you via phone to determine your needs and confirm our availability.  We'll schedule a site visit to determine the best approach to selling your items. Usually this is a one- or two-day onsite estate sale, but depending on the accessibility of the property and the amount and value of the items for sale, you may also choose to sell certain pieces at auction or place pieces in consignment instead of conducting an onsite sale.  

Organizing and Promoting the Sale

When we decide to move forward with scheduling a sale, we'll choose a weekend for your sale (sales are typically most successful when held on Fridays and Saturdays) and sign a service contract.  Our team of professionals will come to your property to organize and price all of the items for sale. Typically this includes everything from furniture and small household items to the contents of the garage and basement to collectibles, cars and boats.  

In the week leading up to the sale, Stem to Stern will advertise your sale to its loyal following of over 2,000 local customers, post photos of the sale on our website and advertise via local media like the Cape Cod Times. 

The Day of the Sale     

Stem to Stern staff will arrive 1-2 hours before the start of the sale. We'll place professional signs and / or balloons along the route to help patrons with directions, and have staff on site to help direct traffic and ensure that sale patrons park in a way that is respectful of your neighbors.

We'll have several team members on site for the duration of the sale to make sure everything runs smoothly, including cash registers for checkout at all exits. Stem to Stern accepts cash, check and major credit cards for larger purchases.  

After the Sale

Once the sale ends, we'll provide a detailed accounting of the items sold and a check for the proceeds of your sale.  We can also arrange for a clean out team to remove any remaining unsold items for donation or disposal, leaving your property broom-clean.
